Six Quick Packing Tips for runDisney's Goofy and Dopey Challenge

1.) Start a Packing List Early

By making a packing list in the weeks prior to your departure day, you can add things to it whenever they come to you or if you see a great suggestion on social media! Don’t know where to start? No worries, head over here for a printable Word file that you can customize.

2.) Pack Often

Place a box or laundry hamper in a spare corner of your house and start adding items when you have a few spare minutes. You could also gather non-seasonal items that you don’t need now, such as shorts. You’ll be glad you did when it’s time to pack!

3.) Pack Early

Look, you’re going to have a lot of super early mornings while doing the Goofy or Dopey Challenge, especially if you take an early morning departure flight. The last thing you want is to do is stay up late packing the day prior, causing a sleepless, stressful night. This year’s WDW Marathon provides an extra challenge with New Year’s Eve being the prior weekend! So I highly recommend you spend some time between the holidays getting your packing done.

Again. You’ll be glad you did!

4.) Pack Organized

I’m a HUGE fan of packing cubes, tote organizers, toiletry hangers, and other items that make packing less chaotic, especially considering the amount of stuff you’ll need for a long race weekend. Which leads me to …

5.) Keep your Resort Room Organized

Again. Four races. Four different costumes or outfits. Four days of packing race belts with necessities. And if you’re like me … four different gals in one resort room.

So yeah. Being organized is EVERYTHING.

The Dopey Challenge is stressful enough already. Having a messy, jumbled room is only going to add to that stress and possibly cause you to be late if you’re digging in your suitcase for nail clippers. For some tips on how to stay organized, check out this video or blog post!

And finally …

6.) Unpack Early

Early seems to be a common theme in this post, right? But we have found that by taking the time to unpack on arrival day, lining up costumes and fueling needs for each race, really helps to settle our nerves and brace us for the upcoming challenge.

Things are going to be a bit screwy for us this year, since we have to switch resorts after the 5k, but hopefully, you’ll be in one place!

So there you go, six quick packing tips for runDisney’s Goofy and Dopey Challenge! I hope this was helpful and that you have a total BLAST at WDW Marathon Weekend. Be sure to stop by our joint meet-up on Friday, January 5th at 4:00pm at the Boardwalk. And if you need any more runDisney tips, head on over here!
