Disney Race Recaps runDisney

runDisney’s 2018 WDW Marathon Weekend: Drinking/Dubsmashing Around the World in Epcot!

If you’ve followed along so far with our 2018 runDisney WDW Marathon Weekend Dopey Challenge adventure, then you know it was QUITE the challenge due to training, bad weather, many early mornings, and a bit of anxiety. (Thank goodness for the many laughs in between, the reason why we keep doing these races!) Some you’ll also understand why come Monday morning …

We were ready to CELEBRATE!

No more alarms buzzing at two o’clock in the morning. No more worries about our training. No more fretting about the cold weather and what the heck we were going to wear! (That stressed me out more than anything, I must admit.) We were finally able to relax, reflect, and not give a hoot about what we ate or what we drank.

Speaking of eating …

First up was eating our body weight in eggs, Mickey waffles, cinnamon buns and bacon at Epcot’s Garden Grill! Normally, I’m not a big character breakfast kind of gal, but after 48.6 miles, I was ready to EAT and EAT BIG. I do have a problem with pacing, however. I filled up on too much cinnamon bun which didn’t leave a ton of room for anything else.

Amateur.

Still, it was a great breakfast and one I would highly recommend! We also had the chance to see Mickey, Chip and Dale, who were each quite impressed with our medals. So thank you, Chip, breakfasat was delicious. Or is this Dale? I always get them mixed up.

Next up was a quick monorail ride to Magic Kingdon for obligatory medal pictures at the castle. (I think it’s a requirement or something.) This took a super long time … and we didn’t even get any super arty ones that kept popping up on social media feeds for days.

I now kind of wish we did, but we had friends to meet and alcohol to consume, plus we wanted to drop our 25th annual Mickey Ears off at Mouse Gear in Epcot for customized embroidery on the back. This only cost us $8.00 each! Totally worth it!

It was then time to meet our friends over at World Showcase, which brings us to phase three of our Dopey Challenge Celebration:

Drinking Around the World at Epcot!

Eh, well, for most of us it was …

Sipping Around the World at Epcot!

Plus an added challenge of …

Dubsmashing Around the World at Epcot!

We like having very full days. And as though we didn’t celebrate hard enough during the day and evening, we also ended up doing karaoke at The Swan until the wee hours of the morning.

Exhausting.

But TOTALLY AWESOME!!

For the rest of this adventure, I’m going to let the videos do the talking. Some things you just gotta see. But first …

QOTD: If you completed any runDisney races during 2018’s Walt Disney World Marathon weekend, how did you celebrate?

Also, if you’d like to check out our Dopey Challenge blog recaps, (and many more,) then head to this page! We also have all of our Marathon Weekend video recaps up on YouTube.

And now, allow me to present … our shenanigans. 🙂

    1. Eh, I don’t think I’m quite ready to tackle another Dopey until 2020. 😉 We might do the Goofy Challenge or the marathon only, though! Best of luck registering and with your training! You’re going to love the Dopey Challenge. 🙂
