Well, it happened for runDisney’s Disneyland Half Marathon. Then the Avengers Super Heroes Half Marathon. And now? The Star Wars Half Marathon: The Dark Side.
What I say? Hello, my name is Laura and I am a runDisneyoholic.
See, my intention was to go to Disney World that weekend just to cheer and have fun, along with Jackey and Kimberly. (Rob and our friend, Leslie had already registered for the half.) I mean, we all have annual passes and we’d share a room, so why not? We’d save money! Have no pressure! Drink what we wanna, eat what we wanna! Be able to see what races are like on the other side of the course! And have I mentioned save money yet? So yeah. I was really looking forward to a cheer-only weekend and had ZERO interest in registering.
However. It happened. Again. That dreaded runDisney computer virus … and a touch of FOMO.
Well, perhaps more than a touch.
So now, Jackey, Kimberly, and I find ourselves registered for the half marathon. And seeing as how there’s additional bling potential, we’re also registering for the Star Wars Virtual Half Marathon as well so we can get our Kessel Run Challenge medal. (I just slapped down my $75.00 a few minutes ago – $69.00 plus fees.)
Yeah. This is how we’re feeling right about now.
I would like to point out, however, that we were able to resist the dark side enough by not signing up for the Dark Side Challenge. Take that, Darth Vader. And we’re still going to do some MAJOR cheering from the Boardwalk during the 10k plus we have great costumes planned … where Rob will once again steal the show. The new half marathon course is supposed to be pretty amazing as well, so …
Yeah. It’s gonna be awesome. Run all the races, right?
What about you, will you be at runDisney’s Star Wars Half Marathon: Dark Side weekend? If so, we will definitely be planning another Joyful Miles meet up. Details coming soon but until then, best of luck with your training!
Have a joyful day!
Hi there, my BFF and I plan on doing the Star Wars half in April too. We were supposed to be at the January race but weather in the Northeast made us cancel. I follow your blogs and love all the information you provide. I hope we cross paths in April.
Awesome, you’re going to LOVE the Star Wars weekend! Our group is so looking forward to it. Hope we cross paths as well! If you see a bunch of Dark Side cheerleaders, be sure to say hello!
