Training Update: I’m officially IN for the Marine Corps Marathon and more!

I am OFFICIALLY IN for the 2019 Marine Corps Marathon!!! To all the wonderful folks who have made this possible through your generous donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Team in Training, I can’t thank you enough. I’m honored and deeply touched by your support!

And now … a training update!

As I’ve mentioned before in a previous blog post, I’m following Hal Higdon’s Novice 2 marathon training plan while also incorporating lots of cross-training, such as cycling, strength training, yoga, and pilates.

Speaking of cross-training, in early July, Bob and I celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary by biking 168 miles in four days on the Great Allegheny Passage! No running for me that week, but our one brutal 54 mile day surely had to count for a long run!

I’ve also been able to do some more training runs with Kimberly, my son’s girlfriend. This will be her first marathon and we’re both so excited!!

We’re also going on a huge family cruise in August with her parents, their friends, Bob, my eldest, and my brother-in-law. It will be interesting to see how we stick to our training routine!

As of now, our goal is to finish at 04:30 hours, but honestly …. just finishing is fine with both of us! And we’re not just doing this race together. We’re also running the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Half Marathon in December! SUPER excited about that!
