First Quarter Fitness and Running Haul

I must admit to being a fan of haul videos and blog posts. I’m not a big shopper so being able to discover products or merchandise others love can be a huge time saver. So with the end of March almost here, I thought it’d share my own fitness and running haul for the first quarter of the year!

Please note that while I will be using Amazon associate links, I’m not being paid to promote any of these items nor did I receive them for free. Also, if you’d like to see the video version, head over to my YouTube channel. So with that, let’s get on with my…

First Quarter Fitness & Running Haul

1.) Hoka One One Arahi Shoes

After learning from my doctor how Hoka’s meta-rocker design can help my partial plantar plate heal by alleviating the pressure on my metatarsal joint, I immediately headed to my local running store! For a better understanding of their meta-rocker system, here’s an explanation from their website:

Our Meta-Rocker midsole geometry is specifically designed with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole to create a unique fulcrum effect, like a rocking chair, to encourage a guided gait cycle. This design supports a runner’s natural form while promoting an efficient, smooth roll from initial impact to toe-off.

All of our shoes are designed with a Meta-Rocker, which is built into the mid- and outsoles, near the metatarsal bones in your feet. We break the Meta-Rocker into two categories: early-stage and late-stage. In styles with an early-stage Meta-Rocker, the transition zone is placed behind the metatarsal heads. This helps create a smoother ride and a faster transition to the forefoot. Styles with a late-stage Meta-Rocker have the transition zone placed in front of the metatarsal heads, which provides a more stable base of forefoot support.

I first tried the Bondi, Clifton, Conquest, and one more Hoka model, maybe Vanquish? The Bondi was good but not perfect, so the owner recommended I come back next week when the Arahi model was in. So glad he did! I love the pink color and they felt more supportive than the Bondis. I’ve read how Hokas take time to get used to, but they felt great for walking right off the bat. I can’t wait to be healed enough to run in them!

2.) More Momentum Jewelry!

I was bummed about not being selected to be a 2017 Momentum Ambassador since I love their products. But I don’t view this as a rejection. Having an editor trash the 300 page manuscript you’ve poured your heart and soul into for years? That’s a rejection! Instead, I view this as an invitation to come back with an even stronger application next year. Plus they did offer a discount, so I used that to buy a new motivation wrap with my absolute favorite quote:

I love how this picture with author Bruce Coville turned out! And I now wear this daily, especially while writing, since everything I want … to be a successful author by selling my third book, self-publishing in the women’s fiction genre, and self-publishing a nonfiction book … truly is on the other side of fear.

I’ve also been eyeballing their Live Fearlessly necklace for some time. I worried the chain would look cheap, but it’s actually quite lovely and this is one of my favorites from this quarter’s haul!

Oh, and if you’re interested in buying your own Momentum, then be sure to visit Wendy’s Taking the Long Way Home blog for a discount mentioned in her sidebar!

3.) RooSport Fitness Pouch

Something else I’ve been eyeballing is the RooSportPlus pouch, not necessarily for running, but to carry my phone in daily. Since I work at home, I’m always going upstairs to switch laundry or walking to the mailbox with my phone still on my desk. This, of course, is when someone calls so now, I keep my iPhone 7+ in the pouch and tucked in my waistband so it’s always within reach.

This also works great for listening to podcasts while housecleaning since it’s easier to slip my phone in rather than unzip a running belt. It’s also nice for race costumes – by tucking it in the back, you’ll have a smooth silhouette in the front for photos! Glad I bought this at the Princess Half Marathon Expo and I’m looking forward to trying this on a run.

Plus, they have great customer service. When Jackey had an issue with hers, they replaced it, no questions asked!

4.) Under Armour Gear

Say hello to my new favorite capris! I’ve really picky about fit and it’s hard finding capris that don’t give me major muffin top or camel toe. So I was seriously happy after finding these!

I’m also digging this visor and two tank tops bought on clearance at an outlet store.

5.) 90 Degrees Yoga Pants

I bought these Yoga Pants for my Monsters University Sorority Sisters costume and while they were very comfortable for running … I wouldn’t wear them out and about without a long shirt, if you know what I mean. Hello, cellulite bumps!

6.) Princess Half Marathon Merchandise

I must give a shout-out to the cute stuff I had purchased at the Fit for a Princess Expo! As mentioned in my expo recap, I finally bought the black Sparkle Athletic skirt that I’ve had my eye on for a long time. I love the heavier feel and the way it hangs plus I already have the matching visor. So glad I got it!

I’m loving my hurricane glass and use if for when I need a pick-me-up. The magnets are always a reasonably-priced souvenir and one of these days, I’ll figure out what to do with my bag full of runDisney pins.

So there you have it, my fitness and running haul for January through March!

Now my hope is to recover soon so I have more goodies to report for the next quarter. What about you?

QOTD: What’s your favorite fitness apparel or merchandise that you bought this quarter? Please share in the comments below!

Have a joyful day!

Hey Laura! I love your blog! I recently came across while looking up Glass Slipper Challenge recaps. My sister and I are doing the Princess Half next February and I could not be more excited. Thanks for your posts, they are really motivational to me and my sis. Sending healing prayers for your foot so you can do what you love… RUN!

    1. Awesome, so glad you’re here, Angela, and congrats to both of you for registering for next year’s Princess! You’re going to absolutely love it. I’ll be sure to offer lots of tips throughout the year to get you ready and thanks for the healing prayers! I can surely use them. 🙂

  2. I don’t think I want to know how much I’ve spent on running gear already this year. I know it’s a bit, and of course, I’m looking for more.

    1. LOL, I glanced at my medal rack the other day and wondered how much money I’ve spent in runDisney race fees over the past few years. But then I decided that it wouldn’t be smart tallying them up because I’d feel too guilty! 😉

      Thanks for stopping by!
