runDisney Tag: Vlogtober Day 2!

runDisney Tag!

It’s Day 2 of Vlogtober! Yesterday, my partner in vlogging crime, Heather Jergensen from Running with Grace, kicked things off with an Intro to Vlogtober video. Today, I’m taking the wheel by doing a runDisney Tag video!

I love tags. Especially if they have anything to do with runDisney!

If you’re a vlogger, blogger, podcaster, or if you’d just like to join in with the fun by leaving your answers in the comments, I’ll be listing the original questions below. I’d love to see your answers! Until then, on with the tag that you can see in this runDisney Tag video or my shortened answers below!

runDisney Tag!How did you first discover RunDisney?

If you’re a Disney fan, then you might already be familiar with TouringPlans.com. They had a chat room that I joined back in … oh, 2011, maybe? Anyway, a bunch of Liners created a couple Facebook groups, one of which about fitness and losing weight. I somehow stumbled into that group and when a bunch of folks started talking about the Princess Half Marathon held in Disney World, I did a quick Google search.

Oh. My Gosh.

I saw pictures of women running in tiaras, tutus, and sparkly skirts! And pink! There was so much pink … which was very significant for me seeing as how I never work pink back then. (I know, SHOCKER, right?) But I wasn’t in a very good place back then. I still haven’t yet recovered from an eating disorder and I NEVER wore pink, after someone had told me I was too old … and I believed them.

When I saw the pictures of those women, I decided:

I want to be that woman.

Now, some of the Liners were registered for the 2012 Princess Half Marathon, but I was getting a hysterectomy in December, 2011, (thank GOD,) so I had to wait a year … which will be covered in a future question!

How many RunDisney Races have you done?

A lot. Like, a LOT a lot.

I have just earned my 50th runDisney medal at the Disneyland Half Marathon, woo-HOO! A video and blog post will be coming about that soon … once I get my messy medal rack cleaned up and my extender bars added.

Until then, I’ve done:

  • 15 Race Weekends
  • 11 Challenges, earning 3 Coast to Coast Medals and …
  • 36 Races.

So yeah. A lot.

What was your first RunDisney race?

Picking up with Question #1, my first race was the Royal Family 5k during the 2013 Princess Half Marathon Weekend!

I love it.

And I loved the half even more. So much so that after finishing, my husband saw the joy on my face and said, “You’re going to want to do this again, aren’t you?”

My answer? YES!

What is your favorite RunDisney Race or Weekend?

Tough question.

Now, if I was only able to register for one runDisney event a year, it would definitely be the Princess Half Marathon since it’s my heart and soul. (Plus I’m legacy for the renamed Fairy Tale Challenge and I’d hate to give that up.)

Still, my favorite is the WDW Marathon Weekend for it’s awesome athletic vibe, (plus I’m all about the Dopey Challenge.) Disneyland Half Marathon is a very, very close second since I love it’s charming, lovely vibe.

What is your Least Favorite RunDisney Weekend?

I hate saying this because it’s really not fair … but the Wine & Dine Half Marathon ONLY because I remember how awesome that race was being held at night. But when you think about it, what other runDisney race weekend includes an after party? So I need to cut it some slack.

Instead, I’ll go with the Tinker Bell Half Marathon, which might come as a surprise. I just didn’t click with that weekend, for some reason.

What is your Favorite park to run through?

For Disneyland, I absolutely adore running through Paradise Pier in California Adventure! The colors and carnival vibe is so lovely, with Radiator Springs as a very close second.

For Disney World, Animal Kingdom since it’s my favorite park!

What is your favorite RunDisney Medal?

While the Tinker Bell Half Marathon might not be my favorite race weekend, the medal from the 2016 race still holds the #1 spot! It’s just so gorgeous.

What is your favorite RunDisney shirt?

My black shirt from the 2016 Princess Half Marathon!

What are three of your songs on your RunDisney Playlist?

Out of my 36 runDisney races, I’ve only worn earbuds for two, and only listened to music during one – the 2015 WDW Half Marathon after a horrible night of getting zero sleep. I give the full scoop in this blog post, so for now, I’ll just say:

  • Sing by My Chemical Romance
  • Heroes by David Bowe and
  • Centuries by Fall Out Boy

Do you go for PR or do you not worry about time?

Oh, please. If you know me, seen any of my videos or read any of my recaps, you already know the answer to this question! I don’t worry about time one single bit … unless the Balloon Ladies are nipping at our heels.

Which characters do you always stop for?

Well, pretty much every one of them unless the line isn’t too crazy.

A much-stop, though, is Captain Jack if he’s out for the Princess Half Marathon because … CAPTAIN JACK!

Another must have is Mickey and Minnie if they’re together, like they were for the 2014 Princess Half Marathon and the Disneyland Half Marathon.

What is your favorite Pre-race meal?

Either the Wave at the Contemporary Resort or pizza at Via Napoli in Epcot!

What is your favorite Post-race meal?

‘Ohanas, always! Hmm, pot stickers.

Favorite Costume in which you’ve run?

We really need to do a new Our Five Favorite Running Costume videos, since there’s a few I need to add, like our Wilderness Explorers from the Incredibles 5k and Monsters University Sorority Sisters from the Princess 10k.

But for now, I have to stick with the Monsters University Cheerleaders! It’s just such a fun, colorful costume, one that’s a total blast to wear with friends.

Favorite Costume you’ve seen someone else wear?

Pretty much anything Cindy Copley from Copley Couture wears, but I have to give it up for Sara from Not Real Runners who wore a KILLER Stinky Pete costume during the Disneyland 10k! Beard and all, it was brilliant!

So there you go, my answers for the runDisney Tag Heather and I created! Now it’s your turn. Here’s the questions if you’d like to participate on your YouTube channel or blog … please send me the link so I can see your answers! Or feel free to leave them in the comments below!
