My 30 Day Challenge!

Recently a friend of mine began a running challenge he made for himself.  Run 4 miles a day for 200 days straight.  As he began to complete and post daily I felt inspired.  However I knew this was far to much of a commitment for me.  I admit I’m not that ambitious but thought maybe committing to a challenge would keep me motivated.

I decided I would attempt to run minimum 2 miles a day for 30 days straight.  Since I’m doing a half marathon in a bit more than a month I will need to do more some days but want to atleast get 2 in.  I decided this at about 10:30 pm and immediately got my sneakers on and went out and did. I told my kids about it and they joined me that night excited to be riding their bikes (looking for Pokemon) at 11:00pm in the dark neighborhood.

I was leaving for vacation the next day. A 16 hour drive to Hilton Head SC.  I made sure I squeezed in day 2 before we left and after driving all night I got out there and ran in the humid 97 degrees to get day 3.

After this I realized my mental state beginning to shift a bit. I’m the girl that says everyday, I’m gonna start tomorrow.  Then tomorrow comes and I say I’m gonna start tomorrow.  So making it to day 3 through lack of sleep and hot humid conditions was a big accomplishment.  The best part was my family knew what I wanted to achieve and they were asking when I was going for run. I had friends supporting me or checking in asking if I had done my run yet.  I was waking up planning when I going to go that day, when would I fit it in.

I’m on day 12 and things I’ve noticed.  I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride.  I don’t think I’m losing weight but I’m hoping it helps as time goes on and who knows maybe I’ll extend it past 30 days. Follow along to find out 🙂 My running partner while on vacation 🙂
