Second Quarter Fitness and Running Haul

Earlier this year, I thought it’d be fun to start doing quarterly fitness and running haul blog posts and videos! I had some great things to share in my First Quarter haul blog post, and video on YouTube, but since my new doctor didn’t cleared me to run until June 12th, I didn’t think there’d be enough for a second quarter haul.

Yeah. Not true. Turns out, I bought even more. Lord help me for the third and fourth quarter!

So here you go, the fitness and running goodies I have received from April to June. Please be sure to let me know what you got in the comments below!

Second Quarter Fitness & Running Haul!

1.) Hoka Ora Recovery Sliders

Hoka Ora Recovery Sliders

I was really excited about these sliders since they offer the same early-stage meta-rocker system as my Hoka Arahi shoes, a crucial part of my recovery from a plantar plate tear. As I chatted about in my Hoka Ora Review video, I really like them as sliders but not necessarily as recovery sliders. Had they offered half sizes, (I was between an eight and a nine,) they’d be perfect. And oh my gosh, they seriously squeak when wet!

But I still wear them quite often, although not as often as my…

2.) Oofos OOlala Sandals in Latte

Oh, Oofos flip flops, how I love you! (Affiliate link.) And I love their customer service, seeing as how these were a replacement pair sent to me for free. I had noticed from the start how the gold cracked on my original pair that I had purchased in Disneyland at the runDisney expo. I figured that was just what happened, however, until speaking to a representative during the Princess Half Expo who explained that on some of the models with colored straps, the paint did have an issue with cracking. She suggested I send an email to their customer service … which I finally got around to in April, and they promptly sent me another pair!

This makes me want to buy more. There were be a fresh pair in next quarter’s haul!

3.) Under Armour Haul

Most of my running gear are Under Armour, since it’s a Baltimore-based company and I’m a Maryland gal. Plus I love them! Bob and I hit up an outlet store near our beach house on a good sale with a great coupon. I ended up getting a pair of gray pants, a black and light teal long-sleeve shirts (with thumb-holes …thumb-holes are everything,) an orange and pink short-sleeve shirts, and a backpack I’ve been eyeballing for some time.

Missing from the collage is my pink and teal shirts.

AND OH MY GOODNESS, THESE TECH CAPRI SWEATS!!!

I bought these awesome tech capris (Affiliate link) at Dick’s Sporting Goods, where they were certainly NOT on sale but oh my goodness, the fit is AMAZING and I love them so! I will certainly be looking for them at the outlet next time we go.

4.) Saucony Bullet Capris

Speaking of capri love, my all-time favorite running pants are the Saucony Bullet Capris (Affiliate link) that have two side pockets, a weatherproof back zipped pocket, and a higher waist that smooths out my hip pops quite nicely! (I had a nearly ten-pound kid. My stomach has yet to recover.)

I had purchased a black pair in 2015 that has held up wonderfully. The only complaint I have with them is that they don’t … oh, how should I put this?? … lift and separate, if you know what I mean. (Which is why you should never borrow my body glide that has a “B” marked it. That B is not for Bowers!)

These print ones fit much better in that area and as tempted as I was to buy yet another pair of black ones, I went with the print since my running outfits need some jazzing up. (Well, that and there were $20.00 cheaper.)

5.) Flipbelt

As much as I wanted to love, love, love my first Flipbelt, it often rode up my waist, most likely because I needed to size down. I’ve been resisting buying yet another running belt … Lord knows I have plenty, but I finally brought down and bought another extra small (affiliate link) one to replace my small. Bonus–this model has a zippered section for keys, money, or credit cards! I’ve never one had anything fall out of my previous model, even without flipping it over, but it was always a concern of mine.

The verdict? Love, love, LOVE it and I plan on using this for training runs or races where I’m not carrying hydration! Maybe one day I’ll try the water bottles, but for now, I’m happy using my…

6.) Filetic Water Bottle Holders

Fitletic Water Bottles

I’ve already raved about my favorite running belt, the single-pouch Fitletic model, but my two six ounce water bottles had always been on the small size. So I finally broke down and purchased two eight ounce replacements. What’s gorgeous about this belt, however, is I can fit all four on now for days when I need lots of water!

7.) Water Bottles Straps

Before, I wasn’t a huge fan of hand-held water bottles – I much preferred carrying things in a running belt, but for poops and giggles, I gave these Water Bottle Band Straps a try!

Turns out, I am a hand-held fan after all. And what I especially love about these is how you can carry the strap as a bracelet after disposing of any plastic water bottles while on the run. And now, since my favorite route at home takes me back the way I came, I can leave a bottle on the side of the road and retrieve it later!

8.) Gone for a Run Bib Album

Bibfolio Bib Album

This is something else I’ve been having my eyeball on for a long time, since all my race bibs have been stored in a shoe box and I didn’t quite know what to do with them. I’ve seen some runners do great things with theirs, such as having them made into a carrying tote or quilt, but I wanted something simple and compact.

My new Bibfolio Bib Album is perfect since it can neatly store all my past race bibs! Plus it coordinates nicely with my office decor. Thanks so much for the awesome birthday present, Dad! He also got me the stand plus an additional sheet package, but I now know that I didn’t need that many.

Or I just need to run more races. 😉

9.) Tandem Kayak

This one falls more into the fitness category and something else I’ve been eyeballing, especially after becoming beach home owners. Bob and I kicked around the idea of just getting another single kayak to go with the single I already have, but the notion of riding together on one seemed more fun!

Turns out, it’s hard and we’ve yet to truly get the hang of it since I tend to paddle much faster than Bob. But after watching some YouTube tip videos, we’ve mastering turning and it’s getting easier. Oh, and our dog? She LOVES going with us and she often takes long naps on a kayak when it’s docked! #WeinerontheWater

10.) Wilderness Explorer Ears!!

Wilderness Explorer Running Costume

And finally, since I don’t like odd numbers, Jackey and I bought these adorable Wilderness Explorer ears to wear for the Disneyland 5k in September! We were supposed to stay on budget by reusing previous costumes, but once she found these, we had to go with an Up inspired Wilderness Explorer running costume.

So that’s it for my second quarter fitness and running haul! If you’d like, here’s the video version of this content. And now, what about you?
