Beachbody’s 80 Day Obsession: The before pictures!

*I’m still playing catch up, here, since we lost power due to high winds at the beach over the past couple of days!

Okay, let’s do this.

By this, I mean me taking the plunge and sharing my Beachbody 80 Day Obsession “Before” photos even though every instinct is begging me to please, please, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, PLEASE hold off until I have a better “After” photo. But nope, there’s no waiting for this gal. I have a theory … if I post these now rather than wait, then I will do whatever it takes to get in better shape and offer a comparison. I will even follow that dang time meal plan to perfection if that’s what it takes.

Well, maybe not perfection. I’ll try my best, okay? And I realize some folks might think I have no reason to share these photos, considering my weight gain has been minimal. Yes, four pounds is not a lot. But if you truly knew me and things I’ve dealt with in the past … how my childhood nickname was Fat Girl, how I’ve been asked if I were pregnant while in similar shape, how I was bulimic for twenty years … then you’d know how difficult it is for me to share these pictures and how body image has been a lifelong struggle.

And I realize there’s also folks out there with healthy, positive body confidence who will say, girl, you look great to me! Ease up on yourself! If you’re one of them, then I love you. I want to BE you.

Instead, you got me, a borderline basket case with lingering issues. I’m recovered enough, however, to realize that no, I’m not overweight or a Fat Girl. But I would feel healthier if I toned my midsection, increased my strength, and took better care of myself through nutrition, exercise, and skin care, which is why I’m taking on this challenge.

So first up is the obligatory bathroom selfie, which is a lot harder than I thought. (I am holding my stomach in naturally but not sucking it in.)

And because I’m really going for it, here’s the swimsuit shot.

Just kidding.

This is a swimsuit that I absolutely love because of its vibrant color but I’m hesitant to wear in public due to its lack of fabric. I wore it a couple of times last summer during our vacation but made sure to cover up!

The bathroom mirror shows everything…

Okay, “Before” photos shared, accountability quest put in place, time to do today’s workout!

And by the way, I’m not sure how often I will be blogging about this challenge. Maybe every day, maybe only here and there, maybe weekly. Right now, I’m in that “dive in deep, all you can think about” new workout program phase. Things will change once I figure all this out!

Take care, thanks for reading, be kind and have a joyful day!

  1. Dory says:

    Hello,

I am training for my first marathon (Disney in January) and am considering incorporating the 80 Day Obsession into my training. How are you incorporating running into this program?

    Thank you,
    Dory

    1. Hi Dory! My apologies … we answered this question on the podcast but I failed to respond here. Sorry for this being so late … you’ve probably completed all 80 days by now! But I somewhat incorporated running by running on the treadmill instead of doing the cardio moves in Cardio Core and hopping off to do the ab work. It gave me quite workout! I also would sometimes double up Booty with Cardio Flow, leaving me an extra day of rest after a long run.

Jackey and I are now doing Liift4 which is a great program to incorporate running with since it’s only 4 workouts a week! I must admit that I prefer 80 Days, though.
